Goose Island Beer Company have announced a new limited edition beer – Anticipation IPA.
Anticipation is a 6.5% ‘Fresh Hop IPA’ made with experimental new hop CF-273, which is grown on Townend Farm, Herefordshire and brewed within just a few hours of being picked, culminating in one of the fruitiest, and freshest IPA’s Goose Island have ever produced.
CF-273 descends from another relatively new UK hop Harlequin®, which also features in this brew in the form of T-90 pellets.
Anticipation 2021 marks the first edition for Goose Island’s Fresh Hop Series, as today the brewery announced it will be made available annually in incredibly limited batches, making it an important event in the Goose Island calendar for years to come.
In terms of flavour, Anticipation has a glorious hazy finish and autumnal colouring, with a citrus and papaya kick, packing a juicy and fruity punch.

Speaking about Anticipation, Joe Bevan, Goose Island UK Innovation Brewer said: “Brewing fresh hop ales at harvest is a time for brewers to reconnect with growers, breeders and the wider beer community for a celebratory moment. This year we selected CF-273, a new UK aroma varietal under development at Townend Farm. Anticipation Ale has juicy papaya running through it – something we all noticed from CF-273 right before we harvested. That’s exciting! capturing that split second in the hop’s growing cycle in the beer…it’s a waiting game.

Anticipation is the latest exciting beer to launch from Goose Island in 2021, and follows recent releases including Hail Hydro (a session IPA made with hydroponic hops), SK Brew Take 2 (a charity collaboration with Blossoms), and tropical new core beer Today’s Haze.
