Order Collection

If you would like to collect an order for brewing ingredients and brewing aids while you are in the area you can do so. It’s the same set-up as usual for collections, orders must be in by 10:00 the day before and collections can only be made from Charles Faram, Monksfield Lane between 09:00 and 16:30.  With staff at the HopWalk®, we are unable to be flexible on this.

Fresh Hops

Green hops and hop bines are only available for collection from the farm on Thursday 5th September.

All fresh hops must be pre-ordered and will be ready for them to collect from the designated collection point at the HopWalk® venue.

Please collect when the green hop announcement is made.

We won’t know what the variety will be until the day due to the nature of harvesting.

Green Hops

Green Hops – £9.25

Get your fresh hops from the HopWalk® marquee.

Please complete the relevant section on the booking form if you would like some.

Green hops must have been prepaid as they are purchased through us.

Rates:

• Cones at harvest have moisture of nearly 80% before they are dried down to below 8-10% for packing.

• We recommend addition rates of 5 to 8 times the amount of green hops compared to dried hops

Timings:

• We would strongly recommend only using green hops late in the boil or in a hop back

• As Alpha analysis will not be available this early after picking  potential bitterness of the beer would be unknown

•  It is an expensive and inefficient way of bittering

•  The potential hop load in the kettle could lead to significant beer losses

•  As the hops have come directly from the field it would be prudent to subject them to at least 5 minutes in hot wort.

Storage:

      •  Hops are best used within 24 hours of being picked.

      •  Before use, keep them as cool as possible with plenty of airflow around the bags.

Hop Bines

Hop Bines – £20

Perfect for use as decoration, we will have hop bines available to collect. These will not have been dried and will need positioning soon after you get home.

As with the Green hops, please complete the relevant section on the booking form.

Hop bines must be paid for on collection with cash or card as they are purchased directly from the farm.
