Charles Faram Proudly Supports “Keep Cask Alive” Series & Heritage Campaign

“KEEP CASK ALIVE” SERIES & HERITAGE CAMPAIGN

Proudly sponsored by Charles Faram

At Charles Faram, we are dedicated to supporting the future of British brewing, which is why we are proud to sponsor Keep Cask Alive, a seven-part documentary series launched on 19th February. This project, created by the Craft Beer Channel, is not only a celebration of traditional brewing and farming but also a crucial step in protecting the future of cask ale.

As one of the key supporters of this initiative, we have contributed as sponsors and appeared in the series to share our passion for the craft. We believe that cask ale is an integral part of British heritage—one that connects our rich brewing history with the past, present and future of our British hop industry.

The series follows Craft Beer Channel founders Jonny Garrett and Brad Evans as they travel across the UK, visiting breweries, pubs, festivals, and farms to highlight the challenges and opportunities facing cask ale. Their journey is part of a larger campaign to secure recognition for cask ale as Intangible Heritage under UNESCO’s framework—a status that would help preserve this tradition for generations to come.

You can watch Will Rogers, Charles Faram Group technical director with Peter Glendenning, our research agronomist in one of the episodes as they talk about the ethos and importance of the Charles Faram Hop Development Programme.

With the UK government now supporting the 2003 UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage, there is a real opportunity to achieve official recognition. However, the first step is national acknowledgment, and a petition has been launched to urge the government to recognise cask ale and everything that goes with it from events to social traditions as Living Heritage.

The Craft Beer Channel will release new episodes every Wednesday until early April, using these films to build support for the heritage application. We are honoured to be part of this campaign and encourage everyone who values Britain’s brewing traditions to watch the series and sign the petition.
