Hops in the beer recipe
Fuggle hops and Savinjski Golding (Styrian Goldings) are classic choices for crafting this traditional English-style mild ales and dark beer recipe. Fuggle hops, with their earthy, woody, and slightly minty aroma, bring authentic character to British brewing. They’re a go-to for mild ale recipes, adding subtle bitterness and depth.
Savinjski Golding, also known as Styrian Goldings, complements Fuggle perfectly with delicate floral and spicy notes, enhancing complexity without overpowering the malt.
When used together in a dark English beer recipe—like a smooth, low-ABV mild ale—they create a well-rounded hop profile that balances roasted malt flavors with gentle, nuanced bitterness. Ideal for homebrewers and traditionalists alike, this hop pairing adds heritage and harmony to every pint.
The combination of Fuggle and Savinski Golding hops delivers a rich, sessionable experience rooted in brewing tradition. Perfect for cask ale or bottle conditioning.
Mild Ale, Dark, English Beer
Contrary to the conventional understanding of the word “mild,” as well as the modern interpretation of the English Mild Ale style. The original classic beer by that name is not an ale with restrained aromas or a low alcohol content. Rather, it denotes a brew that was consumed young. Thus, it was the opposite of a well-aged Old Ale, also known as Stale, Stock, Strong, or Keeping Ale. (See full information and recipe details below)
