Hop Harvest Hype! Growers Update September 2024. [INT]

Hop Harvest Hype

The hop harvest 2024 season is well underway, and there’s plenty of excitement to share. Our growers have been hard at work picking, processing, and celebrating another successful year of British hops. From farm visits to vintage machines, here’s a roundup of what’s happening on the ground.

HAWKINS FARM Brings Brewers to the Bines

This year, Hawkins Farm hosted an impressive 360 brewers during peak harvest at their annual HopWalk® event. Visitors walked through the rows, experienced harvest in full swing, and saw firsthand how hops like Pilgrim are brought in. Released in 2000, Pilgrim is known for its traditional English bitterness and clean, hoppy aroma. It’s perfect for pale ales and bitters. The variety grows vigorously, offers excellent yields, and has strong disease resistance—making it a favourite among growers.

HAMPTON ESTATE Wraps Up with a Celebration

Over at Hampton Estate, the team completed their part in the hop harvest 2024 on September 13th. They celebrated the end of the season with their hardworking crew and a well-earned cake. Their upbeat harvest vibes continue on Instagram, so make sure to follow @hampton_estate for more hoppy moments.

CHURCH FARM Speeds Through Bramling Cross

Tom Probert from Church Farm shared an energetic update featuring a fast-paced video of Bramling Cross hops running through their classic Bruff picking machine. At 68 years old, this machine is still powering through the harvest like a pro. Tom’s team selfie captured the spirit and speed of the season.

Vintage Machinery and Modern Moments at Stocks Farm

Finally, Stocks Farm welcomed photographer Rod Kirkpatrick, who beautifully documented their harvest. His photos include striking shots of their 60-year-old Bruff machine, still hard at work. Fun fact: it was manufactured in the very village where the farm is located!

The hop harvest 2024 continues to deliver amazing stories, high-quality hops, and memorable moments from field to fermenter. Stay tuned for more grower updates and hoptastic news!
