Meet the managing and group technical director. Paul Corbett our Managing Director joined Charles Faram in 1989, becoming Managing Director in 1996 and has been responsible for the development of the company in this time. 

Will Rogers, our Group Technical Director oversees the Hop Development Programme, bringing new varieties to fruition for brewers across the world. He also advisers growers on agronomy, sets our hop quality standards and helps drive technical improvement across the industry.

About Charles Faram

Team member since 1989

Paul joined Charles Faram in July 1989. At that time only two other people were working at Faram’s, so Paul found himself taking on most roles from Accounts to forklift operator!

He became Managing Director in 1996 and has been responsible for the development of the company since then.

Whilst in his current role Paul has also served as follows:

  • Chairman of the BFBi Midland Section 1999
  • Trustee for SIBA from 2003-2005
  • BFBi National Chairman in 2009-2011

He is currently:

  • Director of the British Hop Association
  • Director of Charles Faram Farms Ltd
  • Chairman and Director of the BFBI

He enjoys spending time with his family and friends, drinking beer in pubs, and watching F1 and rugby in his spare time.

Born in Herefordshire to Hop Farming parents. His family stopped growing hops when he was five years old but as the old saying goes “once you have been scratched by the hop it is always in your blood!”

Will studied Computer Systems Engineering at University and embarked on a career in the field soon afterwards, working for a local Computer Services company and working his way up from technician to Engineering Manager.

After 10 years, hops came back to bite him after a discussion with Paul Corbett, in a pub, over a few pints about the hop industry and opportunities within it.

Keen to get involved with the hop industry once more, Will joined Charles Faram in September 2008. In 2009 he became Sales Manager and in April 2015 became a Director of the Company.

Will also coordinates the breeding programme for Charles Faram, looking for new hop varieties to expand the range of flavours available from British hop farms.

In 2020 Will moved from the Sales Manager role to Group Technical Director in order to allow more time to focus on hop development around the world, our quality assurance and our relationships with our supplier partners.

  • Chairman and Director of the BFBI
  • Director of the British Hop Association
  • Chairman of the IBD Hop Industry Committee
  • A Director of BTS (who runs the International Brewing Awards).

He enjoys visiting farms, drinking beer in pubs and watching rugby in his spare time.
