TaihekeĀ® Hops: A Bright and Zesty New Zealand Hop for Modern Brews

TaihekeĀ® hops are a vibrant New Zealand variety originally derived from the American Cascade. Grown and released by NZ Hops Ltd, TaihekeĀ® hops have developed a distinct identity thanks to New Zealand’s unique terroir. Known for their bold citrus aroma and clean bitterness, they are a popular choice for brewers crafting hop-forward beers with a refreshing edge.

Brewing Characteristics of TaihekeĀ® Hops

TaihekeĀ® hops deliver a lively aroma profile dominated by grapefruit, lime, and tropical fruit. Subtle floral and pine notes add complexity and balance. With alpha acids typically ranging from 6% to 8%, TaihekeĀ® hops are suitable for both bittering and aroma applications.

These hops perform well in pale ales, IPAs, and session beers. When used in dry hopping or late boil additions, TaihekeĀ® hops bring out their full citrus character. Their smooth bitterness and bright aroma make them ideal for beers that aim to be crisp and refreshing.

Why Brewers Choose TaihekeĀ® Hops

Brewers choose TaihekeĀ® hops for their versatility and expressive aroma. They pair well with other New Zealand varieties like MotuekaĀ® or RiwakaĀ®, allowing for layered and juicy hop profiles. TaihekeĀ® hops also work beautifully in single-hop beers, where their citrus-forward nature can truly shine.

In the field, TaihekeĀ® hops benefit from New Zealand’s clean environment and ideal growing conditions. Their consistent yields and disease resistance make them a reliable choice for growers and brewers alike. This ensures a steady supply of high-quality hops season after season.
