Farm to Faram - best quality practices

1. Grower Assistance – We work with growers to ensure the best hops and processing practices from farm to Faram. Throughout the year, we provide guidance on pesticides, fertilisers, and sustainability.

2. Harvest – We discuss the best picking times to ensure peak quality. We also assess samples, stock levels, and farm operations. These steps help maintain high standards.

3. Sampling – Our team collects hop bale samples directly from farms.

4. Pesticide Residue Testing – We send samples to independent laboratories to check compliance with approved residue levels. This guarantees that hops and processing meet safety standards.

5. Alpha Testing – In our on-site lab, we analyse bale samples using LCV testing. We follow EBC (European Brewing Convention) method 7.4.

6. Delivery to Stores – We transport hop bales to Charles Faram’s 0° storage in the UK and Yakima. Proper storage preserves freshness and ensures effective hops and processing.

7. Moisture Testing – We test bales with a moisture meter to confirm levels stay below 12%. This prevents spoilage and maintains hops and processing quality.

8. Grading – Our team inspects hop samples for quality and grading. We accept or reject hops based on strict standards.

9. Shipping – US and New Zealand hops stay 100% cold from the moment they are picked. The US Yakima facility and our New Zealand partners ensure thorough quality checks before shipping. This safeguards hops before reaching the UK.
