More Information About Apollo ™ Hop Variety

Apollo ™ Hops

Apollo hops are known for their bold characteristics and high alpha acid content, making them ideal for bittering. Originally developed by Hopsteiner, Apollo hops offer more than just bitterness—they contribute distinctive aromas and complex taste notes. These hops are popular in both commercial and home brewing due to their versatility and efficiency.

The Aroma Profile of Apollo Hops

When rubbed, Apollo hops release intense aromas of pine, lemon, and resinous notes. These strong, fresh scents make them ideal for brewers who want bold aromatics. Because of their unique profile, Apollo hops can shine in both early and late additions.

Brewing with Apollo Hops

Apollo hops are typically used for bittering thanks to high alpha acids. However, when used throughout the boil or in dry hopping, they provide complexity beyond bitterness. In the beer, Apollo hops deliver citrus notes along with woody and spicy undertones. This makes them suitable for a range of styles.

Best Beer Styles for Apollo Hops

You’ll find Apollo hops most often in IPAs, double IPAs, and other strong ales. They also work well in American-style stouts and barleywines. Because their bitterness is smooth and their aromas are bold, they blend easily with other hop varieties. Combining Apollo with tropical or fruity hops creates layered and interesting results.

In summary, Apollo hops are an excellent choice for brewers looking to create bold, aromatic, and complex beers. With pine and lemon on the rub, and citrus, spice, and woody notes in the beer, Apollo hops bring depth and distinction to any brew. Try them in your next batch to see their full impact.
