Mild Ale, Dark, English
Contrary to the conventional understanding of the word “mild,” as well as the modern interpretation of
the English Mild Ale style, the original classic beer by that name is not an ale with restrained aromas or a
low alcohol content. Rather, it denotes a brew that was consumed young. Thus, it was the opposite of a
well-aged Old Ale, also known as Stale, Stock, Strong, or Keeping Ale.
