Charles Faram and Canadian Brewers Collaboration
Charles Faram, is a leading name in hop innovation, and so upon the release of Vista we jumped into a project focused on brewing with the hop. This exciting collaboration brought together several Canadian craft brewers to explore the aromatic potential of this dynamic hop variety. With Vista being one of the most promising new American hops, this initiative helped spotlight its versatility in a wide range of beer styles.
Why Brewing with Vista Matters
Vista hops are known for their bright, fruit-forward profile. Brewers often note aromas of melon, tropical fruits, and stone fruit. These characteristics make Vista suitable for pale ales, IPAs, lagers, and hazy styles. In this collaboration, brewing with Vista allowed Canadian brewers to create distinct, expressive beers that showcased the hop’s unique qualities.
Charles Faram supplied carefully selected Vista hops to each participating brewery. While this core ingredient remained the same, every brewer brought their own creativity and style to the project. As a result, each beer highlighted a different dimension of what Vista can offer.
A Shared Vision for Innovation
This brewing with Vista collaboration reflects Charles Faram’s ongoing mission to connect growers and brewers through quality, innovation, and experimentation. Canadian brewers embraced the opportunity to work with a hop that is both expressive and approachable. Several of the resulting beers included juicy pale ales, crisp session IPAs, and soft hazy styles—all brewed with Vista as the star.
Vista hops are the most recent release (2021) from the USDA public breeding program. The public hop breeding program is unique in that it exists to broadly benefit the entire hop and brewing industries. The USDA public breeding program bred the genetic hop base on which American craft beer was built, such as Cascade and Centennial hops. The program continues to innovate to adapt towards new DDH hazy, juicy IPA brewer and consumer preferences with releases such as Cashmere, Triumph, and now Vista.
