Wai-iti™ hops are a delicate and aromatic New Zealand variety developed by Plant & Food Research and released by NZ Hops Ltd. Bred from Liberty and Hallertau, Wai-iti™ hops were designed to deliver vibrant aroma with low bitterness. Their soft character and stone fruit notes make them ideal for lighter, sessionable beer styles.
Wai-iti™ hops offer a bright aroma profile featuring peach, apricot, and lime. Subtle floral and citrus notes add complexity and freshness. With alpha acids typically ranging from 2% to 3.5%, Wai-iti™ hops are best used for aroma and flavor additions rather than bittering.
These hops perform beautifully in golden ales, wheat beers, and lagers. When used in dry hopping or late boil additions, Wai-iti™ hops enhance aroma without adding harsh bitterness. Their low cohumulone content ensures a smooth and clean finish that supports drinkability.
Brewers choose Wai-iti™ hops for their soft fruit-forward character and versatility. They pair well with other New Zealand varieties like Motueka™ or Nelson Sauvin™, allowing for layered and juicy hop profiles. Wai-iti™ hops also work well in single-hop beers, where their delicate aroma can truly shine.
In the field, Wai-iti™ hops are known for their consistent yields and disease resistance. Grown in New Zealand’s pristine hop-growing regions, they benefit from ideal climate conditions and sustainable farming practices. This ensures a reliable supply of high-quality cones season after season.
