More Information About Hallertau Blanc Hop Variety

Hallertau Blanc Hops

Hallertau Blanc is a modern German variety bred for expressive aroma and bold character. Released by Hop Research in Hüll, it was developed as part of a series intended to compete with New World hops. Hallertau Blanc is a daughter of Cascade, designed to bring tropical and white wine notes to the brewing world.

Aroma and Brewing Characteristics of Hallertau Blanc Hops

Hallertau Blanc hops offer a complex mix of white fruit, floral notes and citrus in the beer, while it gives off aromas of white grape, lemongrass and passionfruit on the rub, making them well suited to hop-forward beers with a juciy finish.

While their alpha acid content ranges from 9% to 12%, they are most commonly used for aroma. However, they can add a clean bitterness when used early in the boil. Because of their layered profile, Hallertau Blanc hops perform especially well in dry hopping and late additions.

Brewing with Hallertau Blanc Hop

Craft brewers enjoy using Hallertau Blanc hop in styles such as IPAs, pale ales, saisons, and wheat beers. Its expressive nature makes it ideal for hazy and modern hop-forward styles. Additionally, it works beautifully alongside other fruity or citrus-forward hops, enhancing the depth of the brew.

Thanks to its versatility, Hallertau Blanc appeals to both experimental brewers and those refining classic styles. It allows room for creativity without losing balance or drinkability.

Why Hallertau Blanc Hops?

The Hallertau Blanc hop delivers bold aromatics and excellent brewing performance. Its white wine and fruit-driven character offer brewers a modern twist on traditional German hops. Whether crafting something unique or redefining a recipe, Hallertau Blanc continues to prove its value in innovative beer design.
